Octavia graduated from the University of Indianapolis in 2006, earning her degree through the School for Adult Learning. She is now working on her master's degree in Social Work.
Octavia is writing a grant for Sankofa, a mentoring program that enables adult students in the School for Adult Learning to share their wisdom and their commitment to earning a degree.
"I liked the fact that I had so many options in SAL. Your education is personal, and nobody should dictate what classes you should take."
