Inportant Policy Change Notice

June 10, 2005

Dear SAL Students and Instructors:

The University of Indianapolis is currently undergoing a migration in their student information system. This new system will be internet based, allowing for more access and flexibility. Student and faculty will soon enjoy the ability to view schedules, classes, rosters, personal information, transcripts, grade reports, advisors, curriculum guides, bills, and a world of other options once the transition is complete.

One of the challenges we are faced with in making a transition such as this is a change in procedure. In this new environment, we are moving to paperless processes.

A significant change that students and instructors must also be aware of is we will no longer be automatically dropping students for missing the first night of class. Beginning the week of August 22, 2005 students will be directly responsible for letting us know if they will not be taking the course. To receive a 100% refund, students must drop the class by the Friday of the first week of classes. The policy to be enrolled in an accelerated course, or to make a change, is still the Friday before the first week of classes.

We appreciate your patience in this transition. There will probably be more changes ahead and as we become aware of them, we will let you know.

Regards,

Patricia A. Jefferson-Bilby, Dean
