The School for Adult Learning celebrates its 10th anniversary at the University of Indianapolis in 2008, having been founded on July 1, 1998. In that time, hundreds of adult learners have realized how they could finally go back to college and complete a bachelor's degree by employing SAL's unique combination of classroom learning, prior learning assessment, and credit by examination. Many activities are planned throughout the year in observance of this anniversary.
We are so proud to share the stories of ten School for Adult Learning students—one for each year of SAL's ten-year history—all of whom share one common theme: dogged determination to let nothing stand in their way, to overcome seemingly impossible odds in the pursuit of their goals, hopes, dreams and ambitions. Each student represented here is living proof that "if you can dream it, you can do it." These inspirational stories will move you as they move each one of us each time we reflect upon them.
